Tribulus is most popularly believed to improve sexual functioning, and is often used as an aphrodisiac. In various parts of the world, the puncture vine has been attributed other uses as well. In Europe, China and India, various peoples have used tribulus to lower blood pressure and cholesterol, treat headache, nervous disorders and constipation, and stimulate the central nervous system. Modern science suggests that at least some of these uses may have a basis in fact. In one study tribulus has been linked to improved blood flow to the genitals and improved sexual behavior. Scientists believe that it may work by relaxing smooth muscles and allowing greater blood flow. In addition, some clinical trials suggest that tribulus may lower both blood pressure and cholesterol and increase muscle mass, making it a popular supplement among athletes and bodybuilders.
Tribulus seems to work by increasing the levels of luteinizing hormone, which signals the body to start producing its own natural testosterone. This leads to increased libido and increased muscle mass, among other things. A recent study has also shown tribulus to be an ovarian stimulant with the ability to normalize ovulation and thus improve chances for conception.

Several species of willow are used to produce willow bark herb, Salix alba, S. Fragilis, S. daphnoides and S. purpurea. All contain adequate levels of the important constituent, salicin, to allow their use as the herb. Salicin was isolated and synthesized into acetylsalicylic acid in the 1850's and eventually marketed as aspirin in the late 1890's by Frederich Bayer & Co. White willow bark, which is also called Salix alba, willow and salicin willow, has been used in dyspepsia connected to the debility of digestive organs. Shepherd's Purse also goes by several name's, including St Anthony's fire. St. James' wort, St James weed, toywort cocowort , pickpocket and shepherd's heart. It is both a vasodilator, and also hastens coagulation and constrict blood vessels due to the tyramine and other aminines it contains. This leads to its use in a number of conditions such as heavy menstrual bleeding, nosebleeds, and as a post-partum herb.
Shepard's purse contains a protein that acts in the same way in the body as the hormone oxytocin, constricting the smooth muscles that support and surround blood vessels, especially those in the uterus. Other compounds in the herb help the uterus contract, explaining the long-time use of the herb to help the womb return to normal size after child birth.

White Oak Bark

Also known as Tanner's Bark. White Oak Bark, which comes from Quercus alba tree, is a hardwood tree native to the Eastern United States whose wood resists rot; certain of this wood is commonly used for making wine barrels. The bark of the tree is ogre white colored and has a tendency to peel off the tree. It also goes by the common name of Tanner's bark because it contains tannin. Oak bark is used as a tea for diarrhea, colds, fever, cough, and bronchitis, for stimulating appetite; and for improving digestion. Some people apply oak bark directly to the skin in a compress or add it to bath water for pain and swelling (inflammation) of the skin, mouth, throat, genitals, and anal region; and for red itchy skin due to cold exposure (chilblains).

Also known as: Milfoil, Soldier's Woundwort, Knight's Milfoil, Herbe Militaris, Thousand Weed, Nose Bleed. Carpenter's Weed, Bloodwort, Staunchweed, Sanguinary and Yarroway. Diaphoretic, fever reducer, lowers blood pressure, stimulates digestion, tones blood vessels, astringent and stimulant. Yarrow skin washes and leaf poultices can slow bleeding and help disinfect cuts and scrapes; taken as a tea it can help slow heavy menstrual bleeding as well. Gerard tells us it is the same plant with which Achilles stanched the bleeding wounds of his soldiers, hence the name of the genus, Achillea. Yarrow should be on every man's short list of remedies since the herb makes itself useful for everything from brewing beer to a hair rinse to prevent baldness.
